But embedded systems, router firmware, and legacy tools may still display binary-based figures. If a file size looks unexpectedly small after 'converting' MB to GB, check whether the source is using MB to mean mebibytes (MiB = 1,048,576 bytes) rather than megabytes (MB = 1,000,000 bytes).
Data plan arithmetic is purely decimal. A mobile plan offering 10 GB of data contains exactly 10,000 MB of capacity. If your phone's settings show data usage in MiB, multiply by 1.04858 to get MB before comparing to your plan allowance — otherwise you will think you have used more than you have.
